The AAUW is a strong advocate for public education. One of our national priorities is “opposition to the use of public funds for nonpublic elementary and secondary education and to charter schools that do not adhere to the same civil rights and accountability standards as required of other public schools.”
This past year, much proposed and passed Florida legislation, as well as controversy on the local school board level, involved charter schools and vouchers. We have the opportunity to educate ourselves on the subject of vouchers October 30.
The Collier County League of Women Voters (LWV) and the non-profit Collier County organization Citizens for Quality Public Education (C4QPE) are sponsoring a program on school vouchers.
The meeting is October 30 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Jewish Federation of Collier County, Suite 2201, 2500 Vanderbilt Beach Road, Naples.
Members and non-members of all organizations welcome to attend.
